The Oak Forest High School boys lacrosse team achieved a historic victory on Monday night, defeating Lincoln-Way Co-op 4-2 for the first time in the program's history. This win improved the Bengals' record to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play, marking a significant milestone at Hillcrest High School.
According to the team's performance details, Junior Aidan Koleczek played a pivotal role by scoring three goals and providing one assist. Goalkeeper Myles Maloney was instrumental in defense with an impressive 85% save percentage. The significance of this victory is heightened by the fact that Lincoln-Way Co-op draws talent from a pool of over 8,000 students across multiple schools.
"Beating a program like that shows just how special this group is," head coach Dan Maurer said. "Our guys have earned every bit of this start through grit, heart and hard work. I couldn’t be prouder of the team we’re building."
Maurer emphasized Oak Forest’s relentless defense and composed offensive play as key factors in overcoming the traditionally dominant Lincoln-Way squad. With momentum on their side and confidence high, the Bengals are preparing for their next challenge: a matchup against Washington Co-op on April 12.
For Oak Forest's lacrosse program, which is still establishing its reputation in Illinois, Monday’s win represents a turning point and offers a glimpse into future possibilities.
