The Oak Forest varsity boys volleyball team faced a challenging match against Providence Catholic on Tuesday night, ultimately losing 2-0. Despite the defeat, the Bengals demonstrated resilience and improvement, pushing their opponents to the limit in both sets.
According to the match details, Oak Forest initially took an early lead in the first set with precise serves and disciplined play but narrowly lost 25-23. The second set followed a similar pattern, with the Bengals overcoming a deficit to tie at 23 before Providence secured victory with two final points.
"We’re right there," said Oak Forest head coach Josh Balinao. "Losing 23-25 twice shows how much fight we have. Clean up a few errors, and this match goes our way."
Providence Catholic entered the game with a record of 1-5 and relied on key performances from Eli O’Neil and Sean Dovin. However, Balinao noted that Oak Forest remained competitive throughout both sets.
"This group wants it," Balinao added. "I’m proud of how we played. We’re close to turning the corner."
