The Oak Forest Bengals girls' soccer team maintained their strong start to the season with a decisive 2-0 victory over Thornwood on April 3. The match was marked by notable performances on both offense and defense.
According to the team's report, Alexa Nava led the Bengals’ efforts with a goal and an assist. Giana Cabrera scored after receiving a well-timed pass from Nava, opening the scoring for Oak Forest. Nava later added another goal in the second half, securing the win.
The Bengals’ offensive strategy resulted in several quality opportunities throughout the game. However, it was their defensive resilience that was particularly noteworthy. Goalkeeper Gabby Raczka made crucial saves to preserve the shutout, including a significant stop in the second half. Defender Alayna Thomas also contributed with a critical play late in the game, intercepting a Thornwood breakaway that could have equalized the score.
Head coach Mike DaLuga expressed satisfaction with his team's overall performance, stating that "the defense is beginning to gel and show its potential." DaLuga noted that with increasing chemistry and balanced play across all areas of the field, Oak Forest appears well-positioned for ongoing success.
The Bengals, who now hold a record of 4-2, are set to face Richards on April 8 at 6 p.m., in what is anticipated to be another competitive encounter.
