The Oak Forest Girls Volleyball team is a force in the South Suburban Conference. Out of 14 teams, the Bengals sit in 7th place currently with a 12-6 overall record and a 6-4 conference record.
Led by athletic players, Kyla Anne Cabrera, Madison Williams, Zoey Aldarondo, and Sienna Smith, the team is piling up wins with great attitude and athleticism.
“I definitely think that we have our days where we are always playing our 100%," Williams said. "I definitely think that when we are on our A-game, we definitely are a really great team."
The goal for the ladies at the beginning of the season was a first place finish in the conference and a conference title.
Now that they are sitting a few wins back and the season is narrowing down, the girls have a different, but still positive goal.
“I think our goal is just to play our game and win as many games as we can and just play competitively”, said Cabrera. "It's a good goal to have for the rest of the season because the play of the girls has been good even if the conference standings shows mediocre."
Smith agreed with her teammates analysis of the season.
“I think the season is going good, I think we've definitely disappointed ourselves at points, but we're growing from that and we're learning, and that's just going to carry into our bigger and better games like regionals and things that we really want to win," she said.
All four of the girls give credit to the great coaching of head coach Josh Balinao for developing the chemistry throughout the team.
“Our coach is very good at communicating with us, and how we've done, and what we need to improve on, or what we did well," Aldarondo said. "And he's very awesome. He knows what he's doing."
If the season continues to go good as its going, don't be surprised if you see the Oak Forest Girls Volleyball creeping up the conference standings.
